Rachel Teter, a graduate student at West Virginia University, questioned why math was a required course in college but not gender studies. She goes on to say that requiring gender studies would make the world, particularly the United States, a much better place.
Why is it mandatory that we take math but not gender studies in college? The world (cough American cough) would be a much kinder, well informed place.

One of the respondents to the tweet stated the following…
“It’s because math is real and your gender studies is made up. Men and women are different. Nothing wrong with that, gotta play to each others strengths and weaknesses. Don’t need a semester long class saying men are bad.”
Another respondent tweeted…
“Gender studies is a crap waste of time class! Good grief people, wake the hell up! This generation of young adults are pathetic, overly sensitive, entitled little whiners! Thank God my 18-year old daughter has more sense than most of the kids her age.”
Due to the overwhelming criticism of her tweet, Teter tweeted the following…
“The fact that people on campus are protesting a feminist leadership event is exactly why we need to educate and empower. I think Bell Hooks says it better than I ever could.”
She goes on to quote Bell Hooks, stating…
“As all advocates of feminist politics know most people do not understand sexism or if they do they think it is not a problem. Masses of people think that feminism is always and only about women seeking to be equal to men. And a huge majority of these folks think feminism is anti-male. Their misunderstanding of feminist politics reflects the reality that most folks learn about feminism from patriarchal mass media.”
