Amy Siskind, a feminist icon on Twitter, tweeted in December 2018 that she will not be supporting any white male candidates in the 2020 Democratic primary, arguing that nominating a woman would be a much safer option.
In response to Siskind’s bigoted tweet, David Pakman, a liberal who supported Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic primary, accused her of being racist and sexist.
isn't there something not progressive about pre-emptively dismissing a candidate based on their race and gender? I feel like there's as word to describe that…as a progressive, I won't be jumping on board with that idea.

Following the heated exchange on Twitter, Siskind attempted to get Pakman fired from Boston College. After learning that he no longer taught there, Siskind filed a complaint with academia, believing that public figures should be held accountable for their public statements.
Siskind has a history of making bigoted comments about white men, with one tweet even accusing Democrats of privileging Beto O’Rourke over Stacey Abrams because of his race and gender.
When you surround yourself in an echo chamber of older, white, male, privileged – you have no idea of the tempest quietly building right now. The women of this country will not let this stand.

We have some unpacking to do too folks on the internalized sexism and racism in our own party – and despite what the numbers tell us and nature of our base – why we presume white male is safe. Why say, a Beto is held up but a Stacey Abrams is not.
