South Carolina Mayor Accuses Pollen of Being Racist

Following the Jussie Smollett controversy, many Americans have recognized the problem of victim culture in western society. In February 2019, Darnell Byrd McPherson, the mayor of Lamar, South Carolina, alleged that she was a victim of a hate crime, Newsweek reports. On February 7, the small-town mayor filed a police report claiming that she found a yellow, sticky substance on both her and her husband’s car. This incident prompted her to contact the local police. Following an investigation, the police determined that the substance was just pollen fallen from the trees.

“I likened it as a hate crime because No. 1, there’s a history in our town of Lamar.”

According to the mayor, she was quick to allege a hate crime because of a series of racist acts committed in the town during the 1970s.
