Ivy League Students Explain Why They Want to Repeal the First Amendment

WARNING: THIS ARTICLE IS NOT A SAFE SPACE FOR ALL READERS

Students at Yale University were asked to sign a petition to repeal the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution. However, the students in this video were unaware that the petition was fake. Just as a refresher, the first amendment protects the following:

  • freedom of speech
  • freedom of religion
  • freedom of the press
  • freedom of assembly
  • freedom to petition

When asked whether he would like to sign the petition, one student said, “I think this is fantastic. I absolutely agree.”

Another student stated, “I think it’s really awesome that you’re out here.”

Additionally, some students agreed that Americans have a right to a ‘safe space,’ while others agreed that it should be illegal to make fun of people.

In just under one hour, the petition gathered over 50 signatures from the Yale University community, calling to repeal the first amendment of the United States Constitution.
